Make time for being not just doing

Gift yourself ten minutes today to take a break, to slow down and pay attention to what is going on for you.


Life is busy and it is easy these days to get wrapped up in the necessity of that “busy-ness.”


Anyone who knows me knows that the concept of slowing down is something that I really struggle with.


I am a “hard worker” and I can do long hours without needing a break.


Couple that with my desire to make the most of this precious life and I can easily find myself struggling with (often self-inflicted) overwhelm and anxiety.


Over the years I have learned what it feels like when things are becoming too much and I now know that that is the time to take a break, have a rest and slow it all down.


I’ve come to realise that these moments of “in-between”, of pausing and taking a breath are just as important as all the doing.


Without these moments, the working and the doing all feel like just too much effort.


So, this is your reminder this week as I move towards a slower pace of working over the summer to slow down, to take a conscious breath and to make space for the being amongst the doing.
